VS Thakur wins NDA cross-country championship

Divisional Cadet Captain VS Thakur of Charlie Squadron won the inter-squadron National Defence Academy (NDA) cross-country championship held on January 23, beating 1,650 cadets. He ran the 12.5-km race in 44.24 minutes.

Cadet Aswal in 44.26 minutes and Cadet A Joshi in 45.02 minutes stood second and third respectively. The bi-annual event also saw the Echo Squadron beat 15 squadrons to lift the prestigious Glider trophy.

The cross-country race sees cadets traverse the hills and forests on the academy campus. All cadets from the second to the sixth term are trained for the event. The zeal to succeed among the 15 squadrons has to be seen to be believed.

Sreeprakash is new PRO
Flight Lieutenant J Sreeprakash, professor of English at the NDA, took over as the public relations officer (PRO) of the academy recently. He took over charge from Lt Col Bhagirath Dey, who has been transferred to a field posting on promotion.

Sreeprakash, a master’s in English from Kanpur University, joined the Education Corps of the Indian Air Force in 2006. He has been teaching NDA cadets for the past two years.
