ShareMUMBAI: `The Great Khali', alias Dalip Singh Rana denied on Friday that violence in wrestling matches of World Wrestling Entertainment can have adverse impact on children.
"It won't," said Rana, adding "It is a sport like other sports...but children should not fight at home (aping WWE)."
Rana, on a two-day visit to the city, met children of Door-Step School, a school that caters to underprivileged children from slums.
When children asked how they could follow in his footsteps, Rana said: "It is an expensive sport..But I am going to request WWE to set up a school so that Indian children can train there."
"I feel proud that I brought glory to nation by my achievements in WWE in US," he said when a child asked him how he felt after his success in a foreign country.
When asked what plans he had for underprivileged children, he said he was contemplating starting a school.
"Study hard," was his advice to children. He also said that he was happy to see people here watching WWE matches despite cricket's popularity.
He evaded reply to the query whether Sachin Tendulkar had invited him to an IPL tie, and whether Shahrukh Khan had invited him to a lunch.
"Sachin is a great human being," was all he said. Himachal Pradesh-born Rana emigrated to United States in 1999 to train as a wrestler. Since 2006, he is in limelight due to his success in WWE arena.
