Mumbai railway police have found a tag mark of either a tailoring shop or a shopping centre, on the salwar of the deceased woman whose body was found wrapped in a blanket and left under the seat of a Churchgate bound local train early Monday morning.

The railway police hope to get some leads on the murderer with the help of this tag.

“While thoroughly checking her clothes, the police found a tag bearing the words ‘Paridhan, NK Road’ written in English on the salwar. The woman seems to be from a lower class,” said a police officer of the Mumbai Railway police

He added that ‘Paridhan’ might be the name of a tailoring shop or shopping centre.

Meanwhile, Mumbai railway police have formed five teams who are visiting Vasai, Nallasopara, Virar and Mira Road areas with the photo and detailed description of the deceased. This to trace the next of kin of the deceased or to find out whether a woman of her description has been missing from the those areas, said the officer.

The police have also asked the Western Railway administration to submit the CCTV footage of all railway stations between Virar to Churchgate.

This will be used to check where the body was loaded into the train, added the officer.

Observing the bruises on the deceased’s neck and back, the police suspect she was strangulated.

In a post-mortem conducted at GT Hospital it was found that the woman had been strangulated. She was possibly killed eight to 10 hours before her body was found on the train.
