Varsha Bhosle suicide: Never saw it coming, says Hsg soc manager

Varsha Bhosle, the daughter of renowned singer Asha Bhosle who committed suicide on Monday, mostly kept to herself, recalls Rajesh Navar, the of Prabhukunj housing society at Peddar Road in south Mumbai where the playback singer lived. 

While some domestic help in the building had never even noticed her, Navar remembers Varsha as a “very intelligent and bright” resident. “It used to be a delight talking to her. She did not come across as a person who would do something like this. But you never know what goes on in one’s private life.”

Navar, who has been working in the building for 12 years now, says his interactions with Varsha were brief and mostly limited to works on the premises. “In that regard, she was very active. Whenever she saw any problem with respect to the lift or the plumbing or with guards or even with the cleanliness in on building premises, she used to call instantly and get it sorted. She was very good with her work (keeping a check on issues pertaining to the housing society). She was polite,” recalls Navar.

The housing society manager had no inkling of the suicide till the police’s arrival. “I was actually at a bank. We did not know about the incident. I got to know about it only once the police arrived.”
