Mumbai: After retaining power in the BMC mayoral elections, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray and son Uddhav decided to take a break. But their vacation was cut short as Sena executive president Uddhav flew back to Mumbai, on Sunday, after his aunt Sushila Gupte, 91, passed away. The senior Thackeray, however, continued to stay back at the hill station.
The two, along with Udhhav's personal assistant Milind Narvekar, had checked into the Four Oaks farm house near Wilson Point at Mahabaleshwar on Saturday.
This is the first time the father-son duo were visiting Mahabaleshwar after Udhhav was appointed Sena's executive president in 2003. The Four Oaks farm house, owned by Pune-based developer Avinash Bhosale, has been turned into a fortress. No one, including party workers, is allowed to enter the farm house.
