A day before the close of electioneering for the February 16 municipal corporation polls across the state, the city witnessed a massive election campaign with the Shiv Sena taking the opportunity to have a road show addressed by Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aditya.

The duo distributed the areas to be covered by them and went around the city through out the day cheering the citizens and receiving applauses repeatedly.

A massive turnout of youths marked the day long road show spread throughout the main roads of the city.

The Congress also made the most of the day and organised processions in the city, lead by party leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil among others.

The NCP concentrated on a similar propaganda throughout the city and took out processions lead by local leaders, including party MP Sanjeev Naik.

MNS activists displayed their strength and throughout the day moved in motorbikes in the city with huge flags of the party mounted on the bikes.

The police had a tough time controlling the mob and preventing rivals from crossing each other's path.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Minister Narayan Rane addressing an election rally here for the Congress lashed out at the Sena and said that it had done nothing but swindled the funds in the civic corporations of Thane and Mumbai.

"They need to be thrown out of power in these two civic bodies," he said.
