Two youths arrested for beating up traffic constable in Vasai

Thane police have arrested two youths for allegedly beating up an on-duty traffic police constable in Vasai.

The police said that the traffic constable had stopped the two youths, when they violated traffic rules a constable who questioned them have been arrested by the police.

The arrested include Hardik Nitin Mhatre, 19 and Kansik Prakash Hegde, 22.

The traffic constable was on duty at Manickpur locality in Vasai, when he spotted the duo going on a two-wheeler, from the wrong side. He stopped and instructed them not to break traffic rules.

According to police, the duo got annoyed by his act and and pulled the police by his collar, abused him and then thrashed him up.

Exactly eight months ago a traffic police constable was burnt alive by an autodriver at Vasai in Thane district. In a different incident, another constable from Bhiwandi was also beaten up by law-breaking citizens.
