The Khar police on Tuesday reopened the Viveka Babajee suicide case following reports that the supermodel-girlfriend of stockbroker Gautam Vora had allegedly hanged herself in 2010 after she learnt about his relationship with Simran Sood, wife of Vijay Palande, the prime accused in the Arun Tikku and Karan Kakkar murder cases.

The case review will now include the Vora-Sood relationship in the line of investigation, the police said.

Deputy commissioner of police (zone IX) Pratap Dighavkar confirmed it. “We are reviewing the suicide case and we will cross-check the scientific and medical evidence. The senior inspector of the Khar police station is re-investigating the case. If any loophole is found in the case, action will be taken accordingly.”

The case is being re-examined following media reports suspecting that Babajee had ended her life after she got to know about Vora and Sood’s relationship. Several photographs of the stockbroker have been recovered from Sood, who has been arrested for her alleged role in the murder of lyricist Karan Kakkar. Sood’s call records show that the two had been touch in the last few years.

Babajee had killed herself at her house at Bandra (W) in 2010. The police had found a diary with a single entry — ‘U killed me Gautam Vora’. Vora was questioned then, but he was later given a clean chit.
