Two men attack girl outside college in Malad, Mumbai

Shashi Tiwari was on her way to college with 3 friends to take an exam when 2 unidentified men came on a bike and stopped at a distance.

A second-year BA student of SNDT college in Malad was allegedly assaulted by two unidentified men on a motorbike Saturday morning.

The victim has been identified as Shashi Tiwari, 20, a resident of Vasai who was on her way to college along with three of her friends to take an exam, when two unidentified men came on a bike and stopped at a distance. “The victim walked upto them and started having a conversation,” said an eye witness. Their conversation slowly became louder and, finally, one among the duo assaulted the victim with a sharp object, before fleeing from the spot.

Tiwari’s friends and others tried to follow the duo, but they had slipped from the crime scene by then. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital. A complaint regarding this was later registered at Malad police station. The police have registered a case of causing grievous injuries  against the accused. “Further investigations are on,” said senior police inspector Avinash Jadhav of Malad police station. 

Sources say that though the complainant has refused that she knew the assaulters in her statement to the police, her friends have told the cops that they had seen her with them on some ocassions.
