Two Maoists surrender in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra

Police today identified them as Somi alias Nirmala Lalu Kulmethe, 25, and Jagat alias Sukhram Sonu Madavi, 19. Both surrendered on Saturday.

Two alleged Maoists, one of them a woman, have surrendered before the Gadchiroli police.

Police today identified them as Somi alias Nirmala Lalu Kulmethe, 25, and Jagat alias Sukhram Sonu Madavi, 19. Both surrendered on Saturday.

According to the police, Somi turned Maoist in 2000, and worked with Aheri, Bhamragarh, Kohkaneta (Chhattisgarh) dalams (groups) of the ultras over the last decade.

Jagat was an active Maoist since 2000, and worked in the neighbouring Chhattisgarh state. Both of the them were involved in number of crimes and also taught in schools run by the ultras in Chhattisgarh, police said.
