Twelve arrested for copying during police recruitment exam in Thane

Police have arrested twelve persons, including two trainers, who allegedly dictated answers to ten candidates over phone during the police recruitment drive in Thane today.

Police said that the ten candidates, including a girl, belong to the Arya Pratishtan in Solapur that prepares students for the police recruitment exams.

The trainers from the organisation are identified as Prakash Pawar and Vilas Chavan.

According to police, Pawar and Chavan, who were staying at a city lodge, dictated answers to the candidates over the phone during the theory written examination today. However, the moderators in the exam-hall sensed something amiss and barred the students from writing the examination and also informed the police about the incident.

Police said that the trainers had even charged Rs10,000 from each student for this "extra service".
