Tout caught in act a day after release in Mumbai

A day after his release from jail, a railway tout was again arrested outside the Thane railway station on Tuesday by the Anti-Touting squad of Railway Protection Force (RPF), Central Railway.

Rajkumar Gupta (36) was caught with 37 railway reservation tickets. “Gupta was arrested on February 10 for touting, was released from jail on April 9 after being fine of Rs2,500 by the CST court,” said Alok Bohra, a senior divisional security commissioner of RPF. Gupta has been remanded in RPF custody.

he RPF squad also searched Gupta’s house at Kalwa and seized photo copies of 80 pan cards of ticket buyers, an e-ticket and 100 blank reservation forms.

The 37 reservation tickets (18 reservation tickets worth Rs26,160 and 19 cancellation tickets valued at Rs27,766) collectively worth Rs53,936. He has been running this racket for the past three years.

Gupta claimed that he used to charge Rs100 to Rs150 from passengers. But Bohra said he might have charged Rs1,000 to Rs1,500 per ticket. He appealed to the people to buy railway tickets only from authorised agents.
