TISS passout ranks 2nd in UPSC exam

The city can preen itself. An MA (social entrepreneurship) student who had passed out of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences has ranked all-India second in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination, the result of which was declared on Friday.

We have even more to cheer about. A Pune boy has ranked 10th in the country.

The top two slots were taken by Delhi girls. Shena Aggarwal, who has done her MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi, stood first in her third go at the UPSC examination.

Rukmani Riar, who had studied in Mumbai, stood second.
Amrutesh Aurangabadkar from Fergusson College, Pune, topped the state and ranked the 10th in the country. Nitika Pawar, also from Maharashtra, stood 18th in the all-India ranking.

According to the State Institute of Administrative Careers, Maharashtra, around 80 candidates from the state have cleared the examination.

The Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2011, was conducted last June. As many as 4,72,290 candidates registered for this examination, of which 2,43,003 sat the test.
