Three killed in separate accidents in Pune

In the last three weeks, three people were killed in two separate road accidents involving two-wheelers. None of the victims was wearing helmets while driving vehicles. The mishaps took place in different parts of city between April 11 and May 3.

On May 3, Promod Shamrao Thote, 28, a resident of Chakan, lost his life when his two-wheeler was hit by a car at Shivaji Chowk in Sangvi area. Thote’s friend, Sachin Gajanan Thakre, who was riding pillion, was also killed in the mishap.

On the same day, 23-year-old Kevin Stanley, a resident of Wanavdi, lost his life after his motorcycle was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Shete Hospital on Pune-Alandi Road.

The deputy commissioner of police (traffic), Manoj Patil, told DNA, “Most of the fatal accidents occur in cases where two-wheeler riders do not wear helmets.”
