Three sitting corporators, who are on their party's candidates' list, also have their names on the Anti-Corruption Bureau's list.

The details came to light when RTI activist Jeetendra Ghadge filed an application seeking to know the cases against them and its progress.

Ghadge said the intention to file the application was to know the track record of the corporators. "It is election time and we should know what they have been doing all this while," said Ghadge.

As per the details provided from 2007 to 2011, six corporators were booked by the ACB. These are Pravin Chheda, Rajul Patel, Babasaheb Bansode, Kumar Pande, Manmohan Chonkar and Vishakha Vilas Pednekar.

Only the first three are contesting the elections. The charges against them range from magisterial inquiry and trapping cases.

While cases against the three corporators are under investigation, in case of the rest, charge sheets have already been filed. Chheda and Kumar Pande's case is being investigated after a magisterial inquiry was ordered. The RTI does not give details about bribery or financial mishandling.

Manmohan Chonkar is a co-accused in a bribery case. He has been booked for accepting Rs5,000 after his aide was caught in a trap.

Vishakha Pednekar and Rajul Patel too have been slapped with similar charges of accepting bribe of Rs25,000 and Rs4.5 lakh respectively. In case of Rajul, the RTI categorically states that the corporator did not accept the money. In case of Babasaheb, too, the RTI details state that he did not accept Rs2 lakh when a trap was laid.

While Chheda, Rajul and Vishakha did not get back after DNA called them, other leaders rubbished the charges saying they were framed. "I do not have anything against me," said Pande.

Manmohan Chonkar termed the incident politically motivated. "I have not been arrested. They called my man and forcibly gave him money," he said.

Babasaheb Bansode too defended himself. "We had caught a man evading octroi and the octroi department had even fined him. So, he slapped a false charge against us."
