Technical fest gives creative ideas unique platform

The city hosted one of its kind inter-college national level project, paper and gaming competition ‘Paroksha 2012’ for polytechnic students, wherein they got an opportunity to display their creative ideas along with technical involvement while learning theoretical concepts.

The two-day competition for the polytechnic diploma students was organised on March 2 and 3 by GH Raisoni Institute of Engineering and Technology (GHRIET) on their Wagholi campus in Pune.

The project competition, ‘Technopoly’ provided a platform for the students to implement their creative ideas through technical models. The ‘Mind Agendum’ was the paper presentation competition wherein participants were made to write and present their papers in journal format and also give an oral presentation.

In the project competition, Bhagwan Mahaveer Polytechnic bagged the first prize for its wireless intelligent helmet project. In the paper presentation, the first prize went to MIT’s Sri Savitribai Phule Polytechnic, Pune, for a presentation on wireless local area network (LAN).

One of the coordinators of Paroksha 2012, Nitin Korde said that more than 1,000 students from various polytechnic colleges across Maharashtra, Karnataka and Gujarat participated in the event.

“We initiated this fest three years back and every year it receives an overwhelming response from students across the country,” Korde said.
