A recent drug bust carried out by the Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai Police has revealed that a new group of drug traffickers, comprising Tanzanian nationals, has got into supplying drugs in areas like Bandra, Khar, Juhu, Santa Cruz and Andheri. It has so far been observed that the supply of cocaine to the city comes from Nigerian drug traffickers, who smuggle it from African countries.

The people arrested in the drug bust have been identified as Sharifu Hamidi, 30, Ismail Kagomba, 38, and Miko John, 28, said police inspector Mrityunjay Hiremath. The bust was carried out after ANC deputy police commissioner Sunil Paraskar and his team from the Bandra unit received a tip-off a few days ago.

Hamidi used to supply drugs in Goa and a few other cities and has connections with the international drug mafia. ANC officials booked the trio under several sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and produced them in court on Wednesday. They have been remanded in police custody till May 20.

The three were arrested near Citi Centre mall in Mumbai Central. A total of 50gm of cocaine was  recovered from the trio. ANC officials will interrogate them further to find out about the other members of the group.
