Symbiosis students in Pune looted at gunpoint

The accused the attacked the victim on his right eye and snatched his gold chain before speeding away in their car.

Three students of Symbiosis Institute of Business Management and a passer-by were robbed at gunpoint of valuables worth Rs1.19 lakh in Hinjewadi area on Sunday night.  

On Sunday night, Ishant Sunder Thakur, 23, and his friend Shrinivas Sulu Vibhuti went to withdraw money from an ATM.

Assistant police inspector  DD Jagdale of Hinjewadi police station said the suspects came in a white Santro car. They robbed Thakur at gunpoint.

Another Symbiosis student, Pooja Singh was going to dinner with her parents. The  suspects halted them and looted them of gold chains and rings.

Jagdale added, “The suspects stopped Jayant Shelar, a passer-by and attacked him on his right eye and snatched his gold chain before speeding away.”

The Hinjewadi police conducted a combing operation in the area. Jagdale said, “The suspects might be residents of adjacent rural areas.”

As per the police records, over five such incidents took place in the jurisdiction of Hinjewadi police station and none of the cases have been solved so far.

Recently, four unidentified persons looted a student and left her with serious eye injuries in Chandni Chowk area.
Explosives seized in nakabandi

During a nakabandi on Pune-Pandharpur highway near Saswad-Jejuri Road early on Saturday, the police found two labourers carrying explosive substances including gelatin sticks.

It was later found that the explosives were meant for digging a well in Ghotawade in Mulshi taluka. The labourers were booked as they did not have any permit for carrying the explosives.

Constable Godeshwar Pawar halted a Maruti van (MH-12-GR-2992) for checking. A search revealed the explosive substances.

The police identified the suspects as Radheshyam  Chamar and Sachin Bhadpatkar, both of Ghotawade.
