Two residents of Malad sustained head injuries after a BEST bus rammed into their bike on Tuesday night on their way to home.
The police said around 11.30pm on Tuesday, Sandeep Pawar, 35 and Suryakant Shirvandekar, 45, both residents of Shivaji Nagar, Anandwadi in Appapada, Malad (E), were heading home when a speeding BEST bus (MH01-LA-6563) crashed into their bike at Kurar village.
Pawar and Shirvandekar were flung away due to the impact and landed on their heads. Locals rushed them to the Bhagwati Hospital, even as shopkeepers and passersby caught bus driver Haridas Bandgar and handed him over to the police, said senior police inspector Subhash Daphale of the Kurar police station.
“Going by their conditions, Pawar was shifted to the Sion Hospital.
His condition is critical, while Suryakant, who was taken to the Sanjeevani Hospital at Malad, is out of danger and is recuperating,” said Daphale.
