Special team formed to nab Kalyan rapist trio

The Kalyan police, which is jointly investigating with the railway police the sensational rape case of an 18-year-old college girl, has formed a special team to trace the three accused allegedly involved in the rape.

The railway police team is interrogating criminals on railway police records, beggars and drug addicts staying around the station premises,” said senior police inspector AR Jagtap, Kalyan railway police station.

He added that they were also checking slum colonies located on either side of the railway tracks to track down the rapists as per the descriptions provided by the victim.

Meanwhile, the railway police have carefully scanned the CCTV footage of the incident. They have footage of the victim and her boyfriend walking on the Kalyan railway foot-over-bridge. But they did not get any footage of the rapists. The victim’s boyfriend who ran away, leaving her alone, was also questioned by the police. But, it did not yield any results,” said Jagtap.

The 18-year-old college student from Dombivli was gagged and raped by two unidentified people outside the Kalyan railway station early Tuesday morning. The victim went to Kalyan railway police station early Tuesday morning to register a case of rape.

The railway police took her to Kalyan civic hospital for a medical check up. The medical report confirmed that she was raped. The case has been handed over to the Mahatma Phule Chowk police station at Kalyan (West) for further investigation.
