One of these suspects include Rajan Shaikh, who is absconding since 1978.
These suspects were arrested by 13 police stations of the city, including Vishrantwadi (14), Bhosari (11), Samarth (10), Khadak (9), Deccan (7), Nigdi (7), Faraskhana (6), Kothrud (5), Bund Garden (3), Sahakarnagar (2), Yerawada (2), Vishrambaug (2) and Wanavdi (1).
The additional commissioner of police (crime), Anant Shinde, told DNA, “We are conducting special drives to nab absconding suspects at regular intervals. We would start our campaign within the next few days.
” The senior police inspector said, “The suspects could be involved in either petty cases like robbery or even serious offences.
As far as Vishrantwadi police station is concerned, there are several persons who have come from different states and fled to their native place after committing the crime.”Two feared drowned in Pavana
A man and his nephew were feared drowned in the Pavana river on Monday afternoon at Talegaon Dhabade. They have been identified as Ghanshayam Begde and his nephew Ajit Begde, both residents of Talegaon Dhabade. According to the police, the duo had gone missing after going for a swim in the river at Somatne village on Monday afternoon.
Sub inspector SD Hodgar of Talegaon police station told DNA, “We carried out a search operation for the duo with the help of a National Disaster Relief Force team on Monday evening, but failed to find them. We will continue our search on Tuesday.”
