Social project launched in Dr Dada Gujar High School

Kirloskar Foundation, Rotary Club of Poona and Stavanger International Rotary Club of Norway have come together to jointly undertake a social project — water and sanitation improvement project (Wash) for Dr Dada Gujar High School in Mohammadwadi, Hadapsar.

The present strength of the co-ed school is about 1,100 students. The project was launched in the school on June 16 by Arti Kirloskar, trustee of Kirloskar Foundation; Rajendra Gosavi, president of Rotary Club of Poona; and Anil Gujar, secretary of Maharashtra Arogya Mandal, Hadapsar.

Under the project, the needs of the school with respect to drinking water, sanitation facilities such as toilets, urinals, wash basins and water facility in sanitary blocks would be studied and facilities put in place.

It is proposed to include green building aspects, water conservation and eco-friendly waste management while designing the facilities.

Vijay Naik, secretary of Kirloskar Foundation Pune, said, “Kirloskar Foundation runs clean and beautiful school competition and the Wash initiative for schools in Pune. About 125 schools in and around Pune participated in the contest and about 20 schools benefitted from the
initiative.’’
