The Maharashtra government will soon introduce Smart Cards for keeping land records across the state with the financial assistance from centre, state revenue minister Narayan Rane said today.
"The state has sought financial support from centre for preparing Smart Cards which will help state in overcoming problems of manipulations, duplications, faking and forgery of original records", Rane who was on a day's visit here told reporters.
To a question on chief minister Ashok Chavan's resentment on absenteeism of 'some cabinet ministers' from the Cabinet meeting, Rane took the clue and justified his absence at a recent meeting saying he was away from Mumbai.
"Instead of Wednesday, it was put off to Thursday at a day's notice which is not justified. It is not possible to change the scheduled already fixed and when a minister is not present for the meeting, his agenda is not taken up", Rane, himself a former chief minister, said.
Rane, to a query on state's debt which is over Rs 1.85 lakh crore said the situation is considered bad only if it crosses 30% of GDP. Presently it is 27 to 28%, he said.
