Six persons were injured when a four-storey building collapsed this evening at Masjid Bunder in South Mumbai, fire brigade officials said.

The victims were all labourers who were working in the building, which was under renovation, the officials said, adding that no deaths were reported so far.

The victims were rushed to the state government-run Sir JJ Group of Hospitals for medical treatment.

Two or more of the labourers were still feared trapped in the debris, the officials said, adding that relief and rescue work was on.

"Along with this building, a portion of the building adjacent to it also collapsed," deputy commissioner of police Sanjay Mohite said. "Both buildings were under renovation by Mhada [Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority]."
