Shiv Sena has won the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. But the wounds of losing its bastion,  Dadar, has hurt the party.

Accepting the moral responsibility of the party’s defeat in Dadar, party’s zonal head Milind Vaidya resigned from his post on Sunday.

“I have sent my resignation to party chief Balasaheb Thackeray and Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray. I am accepting the moral responsibility of the defeat of my party in Dadar-Mahim area,” said Vaidya, who was the former mayor of Mumbai.

Vaidya also contested the election from ward number 183, but was defeated unexpectedly by MNS candidate Manish Chavan.
The Shiv Sena received a major setback in the civic polls when the party lost all seven wards in Dadar-Mahim constituency, the area which was the party’s stronghold.

All seven wards which were lost went to the Shiv Sena’s arch-rival Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and this is what has hurt the Sena leadership the most.

It was said that senior leader from Sena, Manohar Joshi, who handled all the proceedings of party in Dadar area was summoned to Matoshri, the residence of Sena chief, on Saturday. Vaidya is said to be very close aide of Joshi.
