After its defeat in Maharashtra assembly polls, Shiv Sena has geared up to go in masses with a membership drive starting from next week across the state.
"Sainiks have been asked to take the membership drive to every home and that Sena should have a branch in every village," Sena secretary Anil Desai told PTI.
The drive would start from January 6, the birth anniversary of Mina Thackeray, wife of Sena chief Bal Thackeray and would end on January 23, the birthday of Thackeray, Desai said.
"Overall we are expecting 40 to 50 lakh members this year and leaders at the district levels have been given target of making 1.5 lakh members," he said.
The saffron ally of Sena, BJP is also running a membership drive across the state.
