The Shiv Sena will launch a statewide campaign on Wednesday, demanding action against the guilty in the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank scam. Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray has asked his party workers to demonstrate outside district collectorates across the state till the time any action is taken in the case.

A delegation of Sena MLAs led by Subhash Desai met governor K Sankaranarayanan on Tuesday, demanding a special two-day session of the state assembly.

“The MSC Bank is an apex bank. Around 22,000 credit societies and 10 district cooperative banks depend on it. This scam will have a statewide influence and can harm thousands of farmers. There should be a proper debate on the scam, and so a special two-day assembly session needs to be conducted,” said Desai. He added that ministers on the bank’s directorial board should be sacked immediately.
