Mumbai: Borivili police on Thursday arrested a 26-year-old domestic help, who had fled with Rs1 lakh after attacking his employers, an elderly couple. Bhima Thakrulla was nabbed when he was about to cross the border to Nepal.

Thakrulla worked for Popat Shah, 73, and his wife Nirmala, 68, in their Borivili west residence for the past one year. On June 28, when the couple's son had gone to Lonavala with his wife and children, Thakrulla attacked Nirmala with a knife. He gagged Popat with a sari and decamped with Rs1 lakh cash kept in the safe.

Nirmala managed to call her son in Lonavala, and a police complaint was made. DCP Sanjay Banerjee said, "The Shahs did not even have a photograph of Thakrulla." Luckily, the police got a picture of the accused from his cellphone, which he had dropped during the scuffle with Nirmala and Popat. The cops approached the Nepali Pravasi Sangh, which keeps data of Nepalese in India, and succeeded in tracking Thakrulla down.
