THE Bombay High Court on Wednesday told the Mumbai Police to be unbiased and be like High Court judges who are fair and act in a transparent manner. The court also said that if the police are fair, then the citizens won't make allegations of corruption against them.

A division bench of Justice PB Majmudar and Justice RM Sawant, while coming down heavily on the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Head Quarters) Sheela Sail said, "You should act as a judge, be fair and your acts should be transparent."

The bench was hearing a petition filed by Hotel Sea Princess challenging the DCP ‘s order rejecting permission for issuing a discotheque license to them, citing traffic congestion on the Juhu Tara Road as the reason.

The bench has directed the DCP to reconsider the plea of the hotel afresh and pass the order after the police withdrew the earlier order. Advocate M M Vashi, appearing for the hotel also gave an undertaking to the court that the hotel would reserve half of the 117 car parking lot for the discotheque.

Hotel Sea Princess had moved the court stating that Deputy Commissioner of Police (Bandra) was not allowing guests to dance in Trilogy Bar & Lounge and the police asked them to shut down by 1.30am despite a permit to remain open till 3am. The hotel alleged that the cops were discriminating against them by allowing other hotels' to remain open till 3am.

The bench has now directed the police to decide the plea within two weeks and place the order before the court on the next date of hearing.
