Satisfactory rainfall in Maharashtra so far: Prithviraj Chavan

Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan today said state has so far received 'satisfactory' rainfall and 71 per cent of Kharif sowing has been completed.

The state has received an average of 448.8 mm of rainfall, Chavan told reporters after the weekly cabinet meeting.

Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Satara and Beed districts have received more than 120 per cent of rains while Raigad, Ahmednagar, Pune, Kolhapur, Latur and Buldhana have recorded 100 to 120 per cent.

Thane, Solapur, Sangli, Parbhani, Hingoli, Akola, Washim and Yavatmal have recorded 80 to 100 per cent rainfall, while Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Aurangabad, Jalna, Osmanabad, Nanded, Amravati, Wardha, Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli 60 to 70 percent, the chief minister said.

Jalgaon district in north Maharashtra has so far recorded 40 to 60 per cent rains, he added.
