The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai police has seized cocaine worth Rs10 lakh in the international market and has arrestedfour people including a youth from Santa Cruz and two Nigerians for drug peddling.
This seizure was made in three raids in the Western suburbs carried out in the past 15 days.
One of the accused, arrested on Tuesday evening near the Grand Hyatt hotel bus stop at Kalina, has been identified as Kaushal Shashank Kolvalkar, 31. He was found in possession of five grams of cocaine.
Acting on a tip-off, ANC officials nabbed Kolvalkar with the drugs in the pocket of his trousers.
An ANC official revealed Kolvalkar was well-educated and he came from a well-to-do family in Santa Cruz. He had allegedly come to the bus stop to deliver the drug to a client. ANC officials are investigating if the accused is involved in any drug peddling case.
In another raid conducted on November 25, ANC officials arrested a Nigerian identified as Yusuf, 38, and Jogeshwari resident Mohammad Jia, 24, with 14 gm of cocaine at the Santa Cruz bus terminal.
Last week, another Nigerian national named Price Mensah, 48, and another person named Mohammad Hamad, 24, were arrested at Gorai when they came to deliver cocaine to a client.
