Cricket maestro Sachin Tendulkar has withdrawn his application for additional FSI for his under-construction house in suburban Bandra, after the state urban development department refused to entertain it.

Tendulkar had wanted additional Floor Space Index (which is a ratio of the built-up area and the plot area) for building a home gymnasium.

"The proposal was recently withdrawn," an official from the urban development department today said.

The architectural firm in charge of the construction had requested the urban development department to allow the construction of a gymnasium using extra FSI on the top floor of the four-storey house, as available FSI had been exhausted. But the department was not in favour of granting more FSI.

MNS chief Raj Thackeray had slammed the state government for denying extra FSI to Tendulkar.

However, the department sources said that construction had already consumed its full FSI and it also fell under CRZ rules 1967, so granting permission was not possible.
