Rs17.5 lakh worth items stolen from Santa Cruz home

The Santa Cruz police have registered a case of house break-in against unidentified people for allegedly stealing cash and gold ornaments worth Rs17.5 lakh from a property dealer’s residence after breaking the lock of the main door.

The police said that the complainant, Deepak Ahuja, 60, is a resident of Silver Mist building, Saibaba Road in Santa Cruz (West). Ahuja told the police that he had gone to Indore with his family last week. When he returned on Monday, he found the lock broken.

“Ahuja added that when they entered the house, they found that the lock on the cupboard lock was also broken and a laptop, Rs1 lakh and gold ornaments, all worth Rs17.5 lakh, missing,” said an officer.

“We have registered the complaint and further investigation is going on.”
