Sarojben Patel, 67, was found murdered inside her flat in Vishal CHS, by her family members when they returned home on Friday evening. Though the police hasn’t got an estimate of the missing valuables, sources say the gold ornaments from home are missing. “When Sarojben did not open the door, her family members thought she had gone to the temple. However, when she did not return for a long time, they started getting scared and later on found her lying dead inside the flat” said Sandhya Talgari, the secretary of the building. "She was a religious person and often scribbled names of Gods on a note book in her free time.
The scribbled note was found near her body" said Suresh Patel, a family friend of the victim.
“So far we believed that the victim was known to the accused. We are also probing the possibility of a motive other than the robbery, as the accused could have taken the ornaments just to mislead the investigation” said a senior crime branch official.
Though there are security guards in the building, there is no check on the visitors coming to Lifeline Hospital, whose rear entrance is in the building premises.
The police have also not ruled out the involvement of construction workers as renovation work around on the going around in the building between the first and the fourth floor of the D wing of the building. The victim’s home is on the second floor. Cops suspect that accused could have possibly used that opportunity to murder the woman.
