The monsoon is set to revive over Pune-Mumbai and rest of Maharashtra in another 2-3 days.

India Meteorological Department's (IMD) director (weather forecasting) Medha Khole told DNA on Monday that the monsoon trough, which had temporarily settled near the Himalayan foothills, was expected to move southwards to its original position.

Khole said, "The trough is expected to settle down between north western India and north of Bay of Bengal, spreading across the Gangetic plains. This will help intensify the monsoon activity across Maharashtra after July 6."

However, for the next 48 hours, the IMD forecast for both Pune and Mumbai is only a few spells of rain or showers.Meanwhile, rainfall in coastal Kerala, Karnataka and Maharashtra would continue to be fairly widespread and even heavy in isolated areas.

Likewise, North East India, West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand and Bihar will continue to get fairly widespread rainfall in the next two days. However, monsoon continues to evade parts of Gujarat and Rajasthan.
