A group of its residents on Wednesday staged a dharna outside the office of the building developer, Housing Development and Infrastructure Ltd (HDIL), for not providing amenities such as car parking and garden as promised at the time of sale.
The residents said the developer had promised to provide them two podium parking and above that a spacious garden.
HDIL has constructed the 22-storey building housing 200 flats using the incentive Floor Space Index from a Slum Rehab scheme at Chincholi Bundar, Malad. The building is home to numerous well-known television actors.
“Podiums have been constructed, but there are no ramps. We see iron rods protruding everywhere. Right now, it is like whoever comes first parks his car in the open compound,” said residents.
The residents’ ire was more because despite the developer’s assurances, the building is yet to get the completion and occupation certificates from civic authorities. The civic authorities have not granted approval as 11 floors of the building were constructed without permission.
“We wrote several times to the developer, had almost 10-12 meetings on this issue. But when we did not get any response, we decided to hold a dharna,” said residents.
The residents’ anger seemed to have got the desired effect. HDIL chairman Rakesh Wadhawan personally assured the residents that the ramp would be constructed within a month.
“He has dispatched a team of engineers and architects to carry out a survey. Wadhawan has also assured that the building will get the completion and occupancy certificates within three months,’’ said residents.
