Around 11 associations belonging to minorities demanded action against police officials and immediate release of activists who were held in the Malegaon blast case. A press conference was held at the Press Club on Tuesday.

Terming it ‘Agitation against Sanghi Terror’, the speakers demanded inquiry against former ATS chief KP Raghuvanshi, and his suspension.

“He was amongst those who invited Col Purohit, for a two-day training camp for ATS officials, as an expert on Islamic terror. A person who is accused can only mislead people, how could he even be called to lecture people who later investigated and arrested him? Raghuvanshi should be suspended for this,” said Farid Khan of Quami Majlis-e-Shura.

Speakers vociferously demanded the release of the accused after Swami Aseemanand’s confession. “We ask for the release of all innocent people and arrest of the culprits who were involved. All the terror and riot-related cases should be heard in fast track courts,” said Maulana Mahmood Dariyabadi, member of All India Ulama Council.

Demand was also made that an apology similar to the one offered by the Australian government be given to the innocent who were arrested.

“They should also be given some compensation and their cases should be heard in fast track courts,” he added.

An agitation rally against ‘sanghi terrorism’ has been called by them on Thursday.

“Proper investigation is also needed in cases were the police filed false cases. One needs to question why the police have been following only one line of investigation?” said Aslam Ghazi, member of the Jamaat-e-Islami.
