A close aide of gangster Ravi Pujari was killed in a police encounter at Santa Cruz on Saturday. The deceased, Rajendra Thapa, 28, was allegedly involved in recent cases of firing at builders in the western suburbs.
According to the police, the incident happened on Saturday evening near Rajesh Khanna garden atSanta Cruz. Officers said they had information that Thapa will be handing over arms to someone. Consequently, a trap was laid by the police to arrest him. When the police asked him to surrender, he fired two rounds at them. The police fired five rounds in self-defense, leading to his death.
