Mumbai: State revenue minister Narayan Rane was admitted to Lilavati Hospital on Tuesday morning after he complained of chest pain and breathlessness. Later during the day his lawyer submitted an affidavit in the Bombay high court saying Rane's statements after the 26/11 terror attack were based on the Vohra Committee report.

Purushottam Barde, an activist from Solapur, had filed a PIL against Rane's statements that hinted at a nexus between politicians and terrorists that might have led to the terror attacks last year.

Rane, in his affidavit, said he had read out excerpts from the report, which he was carrying with him, to the press on December 6, 2008. His statements, therefore, were responsible, he said. Also, Barde is a politically motivated person with vendetta on his mind, Rane said. He requested the court to dismiss the PIL.
