Ramakrishna Math launches social service contest in Pune

Ramakrishna Math, Pune has organised a competition to celebrate the forthcoming 175th birthday anniversary of Shri Ramakrishna Paramahansa, due on July 28.

The competition demands applicants to engage themselves in a social service project. It is aimed at youth who are expected to provide direct care to people in need.

A team of two-five participants can select a service project of their choice. The semi-final will consist of 150 teams, which will dedicatedly engage in implementing the social service.

“Our aim is to follow the ideal path shown by Swami Vivekananda and provide direct care to people in need,” said Aryanand Maharaj, the head of Ramakrishna Math.

The deadline to submit the application is July 25. After the completion of social service chosen by volunteers themselves, they will have to submit a 3-4 pages paper explaining the details of their volunteer work along with photographs by August 20.

Prizes of Rs15,000, Rs10,000 and Rs8,000 along with a Swami Vivekananda Seva medal will be given to the first three winning teams at an award ceremony that will be held on September 18.

Additional 17 teams will also be awarded Rs1,000 per team for participating in the programme.
