Railway track washed out near Vaitarna River bringing down trains to standstill.

Due to heavy rainfall for continuous two days the sand filling under the rack near Vaitarna Bridge washed out on early Monday morning. All long distance down trains were stuck at Virar railway station for more than three hours. The service was started around afternoon.

The sand slipped off at Vaitaran Bridge on Western railway on Vaitarna Creek due to  heavy rainfall of last two days washed away the railway tracks at Vaitaran on Westerns railway on Monday morning.

Thousands of daily commuters who reside between Virar and Palghar as well as long distance train passengers were stranded for more than three hours at Virar and Palghar railway stations.

The officials of western railway managed to put the service back on track after three hours meticulous work.

According to western railway officials due to constant heavy rainfall since last two days in the region, the sand which was filled under track for the support washed out on early Monday morning.

As a result the track for down trains got dismantled. This came to notice when Gujarat express was about to cross Virar station.  

The authorities immediately rushed to the spot near Vaitarna bridge and started damage control operation. The repair work continued for more than three hours.

 Meanwhile down line long distance trains like Saurashtra express, Swarajya express, Valsad passenger and couple of shuttles were stranded at Virar railway stations.

Due to this the passengers had to wait in Virar station which resulted into chaos. The train service again started at 12 pm however it took evening to get it normal.
