Raid in Khar disco; 28 arrested for prostitution racket

The official of the social service branch along with Khar police have conducted raid in a disco in Khar on Sunday night and arrested 28 people including 16 girls.

According to SSB, “We got a tip off that that a prostitution racket is allegedly being run in a disco located in SV road in Khar (west) so following on the tip off we sent an undercover policemen posing as a customer to the disco. The customer then inquired about the rates of the girls and also spoke to the hotel manager. The rate of the girls were told and he was even shown girls in the bar.

"We then arrested 12 people of the disco staff and 16 girls and handed them over to the Khar police for the further investigation," said assistant commissioner of police Vasant Dhoble of the SSB.

"The disco staff was arrested under sections of the Prevention of Illegal Trafficking Act (PITA). The girls will be produced in court and after that they will be sent to a  home" said Dhoble.

"During the interrogation we came to know that the girls were allegedly involved in the prostitution and reside in Khar and Santacruz area. They come to the disco to pick up customers" said a police officer.
