SharePune: A woman allegedly attempted suicide along with her four-year-old son at Atharva Apartment in Sadashiv Peth on Saturday. The mother is battling for her life, but the boy, Kedar, died of 100 % burn injuries.
According to the Vishrambaug police, the woman identified as Vinaya was fed up of the alleged mental and physical harassment by her husband Ravindra, which prompted her to take the extreme step.
The police said the woman was at loggerheads with her husband over petty issues and a quarrel had taken place between the duo on October 22.
"Since then they were not on talking terms. The woman locked herself and her son in a room and took the extreme step by setting themselves ablaze," said police inspector
Motichand Rathod.
According to Rathod, Ravindra worked as a marketing personnel with Amway. Vinaya, who is admitted to Sassoon General Hospital, is stated to be critical. She had sustained 90% burns, the doctors at the hospital said.
