Pune temple gets kit for disposal of 'nirmalya'

Rotary Club of Pune Gandhi Bhavan and Rotary Club of Pune Hillside presented an organic fertiliser kit to Sarasbaug Ganapati temple authorities for disposal of nirmalya (floral offering to God) in a proper manner.

The use of the kit would begin after the inauguration by Pune mayor Mohansingh Rajpal.

The temple, governed by Shri Devdeveshwar Sansthan, already has a similar kit, but it is insufficient to handle nirmalya.

The convenor of Rotary Club of Pune Gandhi Bhavan, Rekha Lele said, “The disposing of nirmalya need to be done gracefully as we offer flower to the God with utmost devotion. A lot of effort is put in vermicompost as we need to take care of earthworms, but the process is easy with this organic kit.”

The kit includes two big drums having holes for ventilation and a solution to keep insects and bad odour at bay.

A caretaker at the temple said that two 500-litre drums are filled with nirmalya during the Ganesh Chaturthi and the collection during other days is also significant.
