Fifteen days after Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation’s (MSRTC) killer bus driver Santosh Mane killed eight people by driving recklessly on city roads, the corporation finally served suspension orders on Thursday.
Since Mane is in jail, MSRTC lawyer Atul Gunjal had sought permission of judicial magistrate first class, Umeshchandra More, to serve the order on Mane. The order was served at the Yerawada Jail after getting permission from court.
When the MSRTC officials went to the prison to hand over the suspension order, Mane initially refused to accept it claiming that he was innocent. He was somehow convinced to accept the order.
Gunjal also moved a separate application before the court seeking release of the bus used by Mane. Assistant commissioner of police, Rajendrasinh Mohite, and assistant public prosecutor told the court that they do not have any objection in releasing the bus after furnishing proper bond. The court has
reserved order on the issue till Friday.
