The police arrested a man on Saturday for alleged involvement in the Dhankavdi gang war which claimed two lives.
The suspect, identified as Sachin alias Pappu Dattatreya Gholap (32), is a resident of Omkar Swaroop Society in Ambegaon. The police produced Gholap in a court on Sunday claiming they arrested Gholap while he was setting a garment shop on fire in Dhankavdi, killing Hanish Jain (20) and Swapnil More (24), and causing hurt to Sunny More.
Gholap's lawyer Vijaysinh Thombre alleged that the police was misleading the court. He claimed that Gholap surrendered at the police station on Saturday night.
The police informed the court that Gholap had been an accused in four criminal cases.
The court remanded Gholap in police custody till February 2.
