Pune cops told to probe charges against CM’s bodyguard

Judicial magistrate first class HU Joshi on Thursday ordered the Pune rural police to probe charges made against chief minister Prithviraj Chavan’s bodyguard Parshuram Anandrao Chavan and his son Mahendra and daughter Vaishali for allegedly kidnapping his son-in-law along with his father and attempting to murder them.

The orders were issued in a private case filed by Parshuram’s son-in-law and Vaishali’s husband Yuvraj Sambhaji Sonawane through his lawyer Vijay Thombare. Yuvraj, who married Vaishali on November 13, 2005 runs a software company in the US.

According to the plaint, Vaishali harassed Yuvraj while the couple was staying in the US. It alleged that she left the US after withdrawing $two lakh from Yuvraj’s account and returned to India.

The plaint claimed, later Yuvraj came to Pune and confronted her as to why she had withdrawn such a huge amount which prompted her issue threat of dire consequences. The plaint alleged she also told him that her father is bodyguard of the CM and he would kill him.

The plaint went on to allege that on March 5, 2012, Parshuram, his son along with other people barged into Yuvraj’s house and held him at gunpoint. It alleged that Yuvraj and his father were then whisked away to Nhavi village in Bhor taluka where Yuvraj and his father were beaten up and asked to pay Rs25 lakh.

The plaint claimed that Yuvraj approached rural superintendent of police on March 9 but nothing happened.
