Pune cops carry out security audit of schools, colleges

The Pune police, in recent months, have conducted ‘security audits’ of 100 schools, colleges, hotels and restaurants in the city and have intimated them about the security measures to be undertaken to prevent possible terror attacks in the city.

Speaking to DNA, a senior police official said after conducting a comprehensive security audit of select establishments in the last couple of months, these establishments were asked to be alert, set up CCTV (closed-circuit TV) cameras and take other security measures.

However, none of the 14 commercial establishments which have been identified as possible terror targets, have been informed in writing about the potential risk.

On Wednesday, the DNA team visited a popular coffee and snacks outlet on Koregaon Park North Main Road, a restaurant in Camp and some commercial establishments on Fergusson College Road.

At most of these places, the authorities said that they had set up CCTV cameras. On Fergusson College Road, the traffic police have banned the parking of vehicles outside a popular restaurant as a security measure.
