Campaigning for the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections hit a high note as politicians dashed to Pune to address rallies.

Candidates tried their best to catch the maximum number of voters at their homes on the last weekend before the city goes to the polls on February 16.

Union agriculture minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president, Sharad Pawar addressed three rallies in the city, along with state minister for public works, Chhagan Bhujbal.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray addressed a rally near Deccan. Bharatiya Janata Party MP Prakash Javadekar and leader of opposition in the state assembly Eknath Khadse addressed rallies.

The political parties left no stone unturned in drumming up supporters, with many taking out impromptu autorickshaw rallies. Puneites had to face traffic snarls.

Sunday will see a galaxy of senior political leaders descending on the city.

Pawar would be addressing a rally at Hadapsar, while Congress leader Manik Thakre, minister for industries Narayan Rane and MP Sushil Kumar Shinde scheduled to be in Pune for campaigning.
