Pune-based KK Eye Institute bags special award

City-based KK Eye Institute has bagged the Swami Vivekanand Appreciation Award for its achievements in the field of ophthalmology.

The award instituted by Vivekanand Netralaya’s Lions NAB Eye Hospital, Miraj was presented at a function in Miraj on June 11. The award has been given for the institute’s endless efforts in combating preventable blindness.

KK Hospital CEO Renu Wadhwa dedicated the award to her mentor Dada J P Vaswani, spiritual head of the Sadhu Vaswani Mission. “The award is a culmination of his efforts and blessings,’’ said Wadhwa.

A trophy and a cheque of Rs11,000 was presented to the KK Eye Institute at the award ceremony attended by over 450 ophthalmologists of the country.

The selection for this award is done on an annual basis on the national-level and the final choice is made amongst various other eye hospitals of the country. The past awardees include the Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai, HV Desai Eye Hospital, Pune and AFMC Pune.
